Summer days

It finally feels like summer here in Chicago.

The girls and I are enjoying every second.

Hi. I’m glad you’re here.

Our struggle with infertility has been an extremely private matter for us. However, I needed a place to share my thoughts about treatment, hope, disappointment and everything that goes along with the journey to parenthood when it isn’t as easy as it should be.

Now that we are the proud parents of beautiful twin girls, I'll continue to share our journey of parenthood. Please be nice. I promise to blog about other stuff once in a while, too.

OUR HISTORY:
Oct. 2005: married!
May 2007-June 2009: not trying but not NOT trying
July 2009: 1st round of diagnostics (b/w, HSG)-normal
Aug. 2009: dx low progesterone/LPD
Sept. - Dec. 2009: Clomid #1-4 (50-150 mg)-all negative

Jan. 2010: First appt. with RE

Jan. 2010: Low AMH (0.3) suggests diminished ovarian reserve

Jan. 2010: Clomid #5 (150mg w/ IUI)-negative

Feb. 2010: Additional testing (FSH, estradiol) on day 3 all normal; AMH retest (1.0) lowish/normal

Feb. 2010: Reconsult w/ RE

April/May 2010: Injectible/IUI #1-negative

May/June 2010: Injectible/IUI #2-negative

June/July 2010: Injectible/IUI #3-pregnant!!

July 19: IVF Consult

July 19: Beta #1 68

July 21: Beta #2 170

July 29: Ultrasound - TWO sacs measuring 5w1d - It's twins!

Aug. 5: Ultrasound-Heartbeat(s)!

Aug. 12: Ultrasound-Graduated!

Aug. 26: OB appointment

Sept. 14: NT screening-Perfect!

Oct. 12: It's official! Two GIRLS!

Nov. 8: Anatomy scan-Perfect!

Dec. 6: PACs (irregular heartbeat) detected in Baby B (Ling)

Both babies 1.5 lbs

Dec. 13: Follow up with MFM-PACs much better, huge sigh of relief!

Dec. 27: Recheck of Ling's heart-no PACs!

Both babies 2+ lbs

Failed one-hour glucose test :(

Dec. 30-31: Hospitalized with pre-term contractions. Modified bedrest. Received 'roids to develop lungs

Jan. 12: 3-hour glucose test-Passed! :)

Jan. 17: Back to L&D...fingertip dilated...more contrax...

Jan. 24: Growth scan - both babies 3.5+ lbs; NST - all good; cervix still closed although lots of contractions

Jan. 31: Back to L&D...1cm dilated...more contrax...

Feb. 2-4: Hospitalized AGAIN...painful contrax...still 1cm dilated

Feb. 21-23: Hospitalized AGAIN!! with mild pre-eclampsia, c-section scheduled for March 9th

Feb. 24: Babies had a different idea! Went into labor at exactly 35.4 weeks (the average for twins)
