Life

Thanks for all your kind comments of support on my last post. It was an awful 10 days of waiting and wondering, and I'm just so glad that drama (plus the NICU, horrible c-section complications, etc. etc.) is over. I'm settling into life with these two beautiful girls.

We have a TON of help. My mom comes over almost every day, often letting me catch some sleep while she watches the girls since I do the night shift every night so B gets enough sleep for work (I'm off work until September). And three nights a week we have a night nurse for 10 hours, which has been amazing.

I wish the weather were warmer so we could have more outings, and I tend to feel very cooped up being inside all day every day. Especially since I'm no longer on bed rest or sick from the infection, I am so ready to get moving! I cherish the little outings I take to Starbucks or Whole Foods when my mom is here to watch the girls. Just a breath of fresh air feels so good (although cold these days!) I can't wait for my 6-week post-op appointment and hopefully get the all clear to resume exercise. I keep having dreams about jogging along the lake path. I am literally dying to get back into shape. My muscles are soft and saggy from 8 weeks of bed rest + c-section recovery. I'm still a bit sore from the surgery and have some funky nerve pain, and I know it is going to be a loooooooon time before I'm back in fighting form, but I can't wait to get started, hopefully coinciding with nice weather for long walks around the neighborhood with the girls.

Here are a few of the latest pictures - I can't believe they're a month old!

  2. i love the first pic in particular bc it looks like they're giggling to each other. umm, are they playing scrabble already (see it in the background). is it just me, or do they look awfully similar for fraternal twins? who does everyone think they look like - you or B? just curioso bc i can't tell. i'm hoping the weather warms up very soon so that you can get outside s'more! i keep complaining about the weather in ny, but you guys've had it worse in chi-town. i can't believe how much you've been updating/commenting considering you have 2 newborns at home!! xoxo.

  10. A month old and gorgeous!

C/S pain blows... I still have a little bit of numbness around my scar, but boy did it take forever (it seemed) to get up and about like normal. But working out again was so nice; It was great to finally get some muscle tone back!

  15. Ohhhhh my goodness they are out-of-CONTROL cuteness. Such beautiful, precious girls!!! I love the pics of them together. Hubs and I do that with C and L....it makes my heart burst seeing them snuggle up next to one another!!

I totally hear you on the weather and exercise. What is UP with this winter-chill in late March?! It'll be so awesome when it's warm enough that we can take all four of the babies out on the lake path together. :) xoxo

  16. I seriously don't know how you handle the cuteness.

I hope the memories of the rough parts of this time fade and leave only the awesome parts. Real spring can't hide forever! It's GOT TO COME SOMEDAY!

  18. Your girls are absolutely adorable! Congratulations! I would love to share your IF success story on my blog! Of course, I know you're extremely busy! (I've been there!) But maybe, you could take a few moments during one of their naps and answer the questions I ask and post a pic or two. I would also love to feature your story in an upcoming book I'll be working on. You'd be an inspiration to so many! Thanks so much in advance!
